DESCRIPTION:Each year the EPA uses SepticSmart Week to reach out to homeowners and communities\, to care for and maintain their septic systems. Learn more about septic system care and maintenance and practice year round. Communities\, national organizations\, local groups\, and state governments can bring attention to the importance of caring for and maintaining septic systems by organizing homeowner education events\, sponsoring workshops or sharing social media from the SepticSmart program. \nSeptic systems play a critical role in Colorado’s infrastructure and are responsible for treating millions of gallons of wastewater each day across Colorado. Proper septic system use and routine care are vital to protecting public health\, preserving our highly valued groundwater\, lakes\, streams and waterways\, and avoiding costly repairs that can result from neglect.
