SUMMARY:CPOW Soils Class - June 2026 (La Plata County)
DESCRIPTION:Colorado Soil and Site Evaluation Course \nThis course is designed to meet the requirements of the Section 43.5.I.2.b of Regulation #43 for a Competent Technician.  Passing the course examination will demonstrate competency in the visual and tactile evaluation of soil.  Certificates of Competency will be provided to participants that pass this exam. The CPOW Soils Course is a prerequisite for the CPOW OWTS Design Course. \nBelow is the description of the course as it has been presented in the past. Kate has experience in soil/ site evaluations as well as the design of residential and commercial on site wastewater treatment systems. She is a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. Katie is the current Executive Director of CPOW. \nChuck Cousino\, REHS\nRetired\, OWTS Professional\nChuck is enjoying retirement; most recently working as the OWTS Program Coordinator at CDPHE. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health from Ferris State University and has worked in the onsite wastewater industry his entire career. This includes over 20 years in the private sector\, and over 20 years in the public sector. His extensive experience within the industry includes residential\, commercial\, and cluster system design\, site/soils evaluation\, system maintenance\, system inspection\, and regulatory development and oversight. Chuck is a trainer for many of the CPOW and NAWT classes. He has also chaired multiple national\, state\, and local associations and committees within the onsite wastewater industry.
