CPOW Member Appreciation Day

Free To Members - August 5, 2016

Mark your calendars! CPOW will be holding a "Member Appreciation Day" on August 5, 2016 at Shadows Ranch located at 1259 Alvarado Rd, Georgetown, CO 80444 and will move to the Georgetown Heritage Center in the afternoon. This educational event is free to all CPOW members; and that includes lunch! The event will start with demonstrations at Shadows Ranch of a full scale non-pressurized drip dispersal system (NDDS), pressure distribution soil treatment area piping demonstration, soil test pit evaluation and use permit inspection of the existing onsite wastewater treatment system on the property. The field demonstrations will be followed by lunch and a series of case studies presented at the Georgetown Heritage Center. The day will wrap up with field trips to the Georgetown Wastewater Treatment Plant and a commercial onsite wastewater treatment system.

Non-Pressurized Drip Dispersal System (NDDS) Demonstration

A full scale NDDS will be set up on the ground surface to demonstrate distribution through the manifolds and laterals.

NAWT Title Transfer Inspection
High Plains Sanitation Service
Attendees will walk through a title transfer inspection of the existing OWTS on the property.

Pressure Distribution Demonstration
SCG Enterprises
Several laterals with differing orifice size and spacing will be set up with a pump and automatic distributing valve to demonstrate how effluent moves through laterals and the importance of correctly sizing pressure distribution networks.

Soil Test Pits and Samples
CPOW Soils Trainers
A test pit will be excavated to practice logging subsurface conditions and soils samples and instructors will be available to practice soil texturing skills.

12:00-1:00 - Lunch at the Georgetown Heritage Center

1:00-2:30 - OWTS Engineering Case Studies

 2:30-3:30 - County O&M Contract Panel

3:30-4:30 - Field Trips to the Georgetown Wastewater Treatment Plant and a commercial onsite wastewater treatment center.


OWTS Industry Leader Award

CPOW would like your nominations for the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Industry Leader Award.

This award is given each year to a CPOW member in recognition of their contributions to the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Industry in the state of Colorado.

To be eligible for the award, a nominee must:

1. Be a member in good standing of the Colorado Professionals in Onsite Wastewater.
2. Have performed duties in the field of OWTS so as to promote, and elevate, the                     professionalism of the industry.
3. Have demonstrated leadership, excellence, and dedication to the OWTS industry.

Nominations for the award must include:

1. A detailed letter from the person making the nomination, including a description of facts         about the nominee such as:
a. Record of applicable employment history and scope of responsibilities.
b. Formal education, special training, and experience.
c. Organizational affiliations, including CPOW, detailing office, committees, and                         contributions.
d. Contributions to the professionalism of the OWTS Industry.

Selection of the award winner is to be made by the CPOW Board of Directors.

The award is to be given at the annual CPOW Conference.

Deadline for nominations is October 31st of the year prior to the annual CPOW Conference in January.
